These
notes are meant to help you through any problems you may have in
getting your CD to work on your computer.
Note
that once the Soccermaths CD is activated on your computer, you
don't need to be online while you use it. (Refer to the
installation guide supplied with your Soccermaths CD or download
installation guide here.)
After Initial activation
On
the first screen you need to select the language of your
preference.
Please
note: Due to the size of the programme we had to issue separate
CDs for English and Afrikaans. The only difference
between the two versions is that on the English CD the Warm-up
(Mental Maths) activities are included only in English and on
the Afrikaans CD' the Warm-up (Mental Maths) Activities are
available only in Afrikaans. The rest of the content is
available in both languages on all CDs. Should you need the
Warm-up activities in the other language too, you could request
us to forward the relevant database at no additional cost.
Once you
selected the language of preference the main menu
will open.
On the main
menu you can select to play games (Take a break)
or the relevant grade by clicking on one of the
numbered soccer balls.
You could
also select printable resources that you can
use to help your child understand a concept (topic) better.

following security warnings: "To protect your security,
Internet Explorer has restricted....."
Click on this message in the top of your browser and select "Allow Blocked Content..." Click on "Yes" in the popup window.
About the GRADE MENU
Once you have selected a grade, you will have 4 options: ![]()
1.
Warm-up:
This is a
mental maths quiz that the learner can do on the computer.
There are 18
activities per grade and the idea that the learner do one
activity before starting with the day's maths. (It must remain
FUN!)
Note: To open the activities on your computer you will need
Flash player. Most computers have flash player installed with
their web browsers. However, if you do not have flash, you could
install it from the language menu screen (the screen where you
selected languages at the start of the CD). You will find a
button to 'Install Flash' just above the picture of the referee.
2.
Concept development:
On the grade
menu you can select a "topic" by clicking on the list,
e.g. A1-Numbers .
This will
open a printable worksheet that you will need to print.
The learner
can then do this activity on paper. (Learners must be able to do
maths on paper.)
3.
Coach (the parent or person who assists
learner)
Under this
section you can print the same worksheet as above, but with more
information
AND the
answers. This can be used to help the learner with the concept
(topic) development.
We have also
included the Assessment Standard (directly from the National
Curriculum that schools need to use).
This shows
you where the activity fit into the maths curriculum.
4.
Quiz
Once the
learner has mastered a topic, he/she can select the quiz.
There is a
quiz for every topic to assess if the learner understands that
specific topic.
The learner
does the quiz directly on the computer.
